Jessica Thompson, viola
Violist Jessica Thompson is a passionate chamber musician who is equally at home in traditional repertoire and music of our time. In addition to her work with the Daedalus Quartet, she performs regularly as a core member of the East Coast Chamber Orchestra, of which she serves as co-executive director, and with the String Orchestra of NYC. Ms. Thompson is also a member of Trio Candesco, a flute/viola/harp trio.
She has performed at numerous festivals, including Aspen, Taos, Marlboro, Verbier (Switzerland), the Portland, Charlottesville, Mimir, Skaneateles, Sebago-Long Lake, and Halcyon Chamber Music Festivals, and Bard Summerscapes, and has toured with Musicians from Marlboro. Ms. Thompson has appeared as soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra and in recital in cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Princeton, and Washington, D.C.
She currently teaches at Princeton and Columbia Universities as well as serving on the faculty of the Maine Chamber Music Seminar at Snow Pond.
She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Karen Tuttle.
Ms. Thompson performs on an instrument made in 1818 in Milan by Giacomo Rivolta.
