“a fresh and vital young participant in what is a golden age of American string quartets” -The New Yorker
Praised by The New Yorker as “a fresh and vital young participant in what is a golden age of American string quartets,” the Daedalus Quartet has established itself as a leader among the new generation of string ensembles. Since winning the top prize in the Banff International String Quartet Competition, they have performed in many of the world’s leading musical venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Library of Congress, the Gardner Museum, and abroad at Vienna's Musikverein, the Salzburg Mozarteum, the Concertgebouw, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, as well as in leading venues in Japan.
The Daedalus Quartet has won plaudits for its adventurous exploration of contemporary music including commissions of Fred Lerdahl’s Third String Quartet and Chaconne, Joan Tower’s White Water, Huck Hodge’s The Topography of Desire, David Horne’s Flight from the Labyrinth, and Vivian Fung's Frenetic Memories.
Since 2006, the Daedalus Quartet has served as Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Pennsylvania where they are recognized for their innovative programming and interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly in their Beethoven Quartet cycle, Music and Migration, Hearing Women's Voices and Bartok’s Monster projects.
